Two of the most popular balcony decking choices in Singapore are capped WPC (composite) and Chengal hardwood. Here's how to choose.
Capped WPC / composite
- Low maintenance — wash, no oiling
- Colour-stable; resists rot and termites
- Consistent modern look
- Planning from ~S$18–32/ft²
Chengal hardwood
- Premium natural grain; warm character
- Very durable; can be oiled to hold colour, or left to silver-grey
- Needs occasional upkeep
- Planning ~S$33–45+/ft²
Which should you pick?
Choose WPC for low upkeep and a clean, uniform look; choose Chengal for natural timber warmth on a landed patio or design-led balcony. Both perform well on a properly ventilated subframe with drainage.
